I trotted across the pale sands that covered much of my territory. My feet fell into the caress of the thin particles. My darkly colored eyes scanned the horizon for the oasis that I would surely turn up on. For the most part it was just an endless sea of golden-white. I looked harder and could see the outline of a tree set. A flush of relief filled my senses as it became a clearer image. I had been trotting through the sand dunes for a half day and I was beginning to become fatigued. The fatigue was forgotten for the moment. I picked up my pace to a quick canter.
It took about a half of an hour to reach the oasis, even with the entire trip being at a canter. I sighed happily as I neared the small stand of trees. I stopped on the edge of the small haven. My keen ears and eyes searched the space for other beings. When I thought that the coast was clear, I moved into my temporary home. There was a pond of water in the center of the oasis. Around it stood maybe twenty trees. Grass carpeted the area, stopping just inside of the outer most trees. I first went to drink the refreshing water that was so tempting. After that I settled into the grass and just layed there. Oh, it felt good. I closed my eyes from the blistering sun. While my eyes recoiled from the light and heat of the sun, my skin soaked in the rays that were comforting. Yes, I thought, this is the place. I rolled onto my side and was content to just stay there. If only I had a companion. |

| Moonstone trudged through the sand, feeling like she would never find water. The sand was sticking to her coat making her feel itchy and unconfertable. She walked on hoping to come across a pond or some sorce of water. Hours passed. Finaly a little ways off was an oasis. She galloped toward it and stopped taking big gulps of water. Not noticing the horse laying a few feet away. After she finished drinking, she took a few bites of grass and stood there finaly noticing the stallion rolling in the grass. She nickered a greeting and stood there seeing if he knew she was there. |

| Ice shooked her mane and sand flicked out of it. Her and her son, Star, had been travelling for while in the desert. Sand was crusted all over her and the heat of the sun was getting to her. Her breed was use to hot climbs, the originated in the desert, but she wasn't use to it. Star was trotting around, not liking how his hooves slid in the unstable ground. He was thirsty and tired and wanted to stop, but his mother warned him a sandstorm could start up at any time, so they had to keep alert. "Mom! When are we gunna find water!" he whined. Ice snorted. "Sooner then yout hink honey." But she was unsure, not one signed of life out here yet, and definitely no water. _________________ Awaiting Ikuto to take me away.

| I watched a mare move quickly into the oasis he had found. She drank like she thought she would find no other water. She even ate grass without a notice to me. I watched with delight as she finally found me and greeted me. Hello, I said to the colorful mare. I lifted myself from the grass to stand before the mare. My name is Nauda, I introduced myself.

| star whinnied excitedly and race forward. ice flicked her ears and looked up. Water! She bolted after Star, a new strength in her legs. They both plunged into the cool liquid. Ice took large gulps as star rolled around in the shallow, getting the sand out of his coat. _________________ Awaiting Ikuto to take me away.

| I spooked as another mare, whom brought a colt with her, plunged into my oasis and pond before the first mare could even reply. I flicked my ears and flared my nostrils. Did she bring a stallion to threaten my home. Or even the first mare may have a stallion with her as well. I let my head turn so my eyes might search the visible distance around us for sign of other horses. Are you alone, I asked them both at once. A slight panic rose in me as I awaited their responses. |

| Ice looked up and froze. There were other horses here. Alarm spread through her and she was about to bolt away when the stallion asked a question. She still stood in the water still as a rock, deciding what to say when Star just rushed ahead. "Yes we are! we have been travelling for days in this awful place!" He whinnied. _________________ Awaiting Ikuto to take me away.

| I laughed with relief as the young colt rushed forward with reply. Good. I worried I might have a fight to deal with, I said. My body relaxed as I looked the group over. I let my eyes wander over the black and white mare with stunning blue eyes. Then I looked over the white mare who was in the water. Last I looked at the roan yearling. He was a sprightly looking colt whom I was sure to like. What gives me the pleasure of your company out here in this awful, I winked at the colt, place. I looked at each mare, wondering if they knew each other. |

| Star grinned, happy the stallion was joking around with him. Ice still seemed tense, unsure of what to make of both these new equines. _________________ Awaiting Ikuto to take me away.

| I was glad that the colt would relax and smile at me. I sniffed at him, wanting to memorize his scent so that I would not forget him later. I looked back to the mare who must be his mother. I wondered why she looked so wary. I smiled at her with soft encouragement. |

| Ice looked at the stallion and saw him smile softly at her. She returned it and brought her ears forward, easing up. Star also extended his neck and sniffed at the base of his neck. Then Ice collected herself and moved closer. "We are searching for a home actually. We lost our old one." _________________ Awaiting Ikuto to take me away.

| "A home," I ask curiosly, "Losing a home is not a good thing." I looked at the mare as she stood closer to me. "If you seek refuge, even just temporarily, I will offer you a stay in my home her." |
